PLANET-Based Pet Care
What We Love To Do
Pet Sitting Dog Walking Pooper ScoopingAbout Us
I am a registered veterinary technician (RVT) that loves to take care of animals in their homes instead of a clinic. I have been licensed as a vet tech since 2012 and just left working in a clinic after spending over 10 years at and emergency clinic. I prefer to be at home with my critters too and need to have more of a flexible schedule that a clinic can provide.
My unique business focuses on caring for pets, while also caring for the planet. I have partnered with several nonprofits to make this possible. This includes my own nonprofit, Living With Harmony. We are a 501c3 charity in Colorado and take care of a menagerie of small animals, including dogs, rabbits, birds and reptiles.
Our organization came up with the term, PLANET-Based Living, which is a way of life where we put the planet first. This includes reducing the demand on our resources so we have more resources kept intact for future generations and so wild animals have habitat and an environment that they can live in too. It also means that I do my best to reduce my energy use and choose to bike, bus or walk when I can. I utilize an E-car, when I need to drive during in climate weather or further distances. So, I focus on staying local in Boulder County, CO.
I also recycle pet food bags and treat bags through one of our partners, Ridwell.com. I dispose of dog poop at a commercial compost location and use paper bags that are compostable, or flushable bags, depending on what your preference is. Avoiding plastic and compostable dog poop bags that actually aren't composted, but are trapped in the landfill, actually contributes to methane, a potent greenhouse gas - yikes!
I plan on using the fees that I collect from my services to help support our organization and to help with our animal care.
I have loved and cared for animals my entire life, including cats and dogs too. I have a soft spot for tortoises and have to say they are one of my favorite animals.
