Hey everybody, welcome! My name is Katie Jernigan, I am a lifelong lover of ALL animals and particularly have a soft spot for rescues, seniors, and those in need. I live on a family farm in Benson, NC with my husband, two bonus-kiddos, and all of our critters! We currently have 8 rescue dogs, 6 lizards, 2 snakes, 5 hermit crabs, 2 horses, 3 miniature horses, 3 Gotland sheep, a goat that thinks he's a dog, a barn kitty, 10 hens, and I raise feeder insects for my reptiles! We love to be outdoors and enjoy hiking, camping, kayaking, horseback riding/driving, gardening, and anything that involves animals or nature. ????
I am honored to be trusted with people's babies and I treat them all as I would my own. If you or anybody you know needs farm sitting or pet care please keep me in mind, I'm currently taking on new families. Primarily serving within 30 minutes of Benson NC (surrounding areas in Johnston & Harnett County NC.) I also provide free meet & greets!
I am available for drop-ins (primarily weekends as I work a full time M-F job, with some evening availability) but currently do not typically do overnight stays due to my own babies. I have extensive experience with dogs (including rescues/fearful/reactive/special needs/medical cases/senior dogs), cats, horses, small ruminants, poultry, reptiles, rodents/small animals, fish, hermit crabs, and even insects!
As a multi-pet & multi-species household, I understand the difficulty finding reasonable, reliable care so do my best to be affordable and do not charge per animal. Drop-ins start at $20 per visit and typically last 45min-1hr, with individual needs and distance being factored in.
I also trim pet goat and sheep hooves! The cost is $15/animal, and animals must be able to be caught within a reasonable amount of time/effort. I ask that the owner either assists with holding the animal or provides a safe, sturdy location for me to halter & tie animals (they do not have to be halter broke, and I will bring a halter, snips, supplies!). Primarily serving Johnston, Harnett, & Wake County NC but may travel further for an additional fee. Please keep me in mind for your hoof trimming needs!
